Ruth Madoc was a British actress who was born on April 16, 1943, in Norwich. She pursued her showing education at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

Her most well-known works embody Fiddler on the Roof (1971), Hi-de-Hi! (1980), and Under Milk Wood (1971). From 1980 until 1988, Madoc carried out Gladys Pugh throughout the BBC television sequence Hi-de-Hi!, for which she was nominated for a BAFTA TV award.
Swansea University honored her with an honorary diploma in 2006.

Together with actor Philip Madoc, who was Madoc’s first husband, she starred throughout the 1981 television serial The Life and Times of David Lloyd George. Before divorcing in 1981, they’ve been married for 20 years. They had a daughter named Lowri and a son named Rhys.
